Flintshire Liberal Democrats

In his keynote speech to the Liberal Democrat Conference, Party Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has outlined his goals for the Government and the country over the coming years. He reiterated his commitment to liberal values on the environment and human rights and his determination to ensure a fair chance for every child, saying "every child can do good things, great things, if only we give them the opportunities they deserve."

Dear Colleague
All of us were saddened I am sure by the sudden death last week of Councillor John Robert Jones. Although I only met him on a limited number of occasions he struck me as a man deeply rooted in his community who fulfilled an important role on Gwynedd Council and who commanded respect from across the political spectrum on the council. I am sure that our thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time. He will also be sadly missed by our colleagues in Arfon Lib Dems.

The official opening of the Welsh Liberal Democrats North Wales Campaign Centre will be at 10.30 am on Saturday, 2nd April.

The opening [followed by a coffee morning] will be performed by Baroness Walmsley of West Derby!

The Centre will be a campaign base for the List, Wrexham, and Clywd South Campaigns.

I should like to take this opportunity to personally introduce myself as the Welsh Liberal Democrats Assembly candidate for Delyn in the forthcoming National Assembly for Wales Elections (5^th May 2011). As you may recall the Flintshire Candidates official adoption meeting took place on the 13^th January 2011, and I was absolutely thrilled when those present embraced me as the local Party's Delyn candidate.

The coming year will present us with many challenges and opportunities as Liberal Democrats, firstly with regards to maintaining a separate Welsh identity as a party but also the chance to show how Liberal Democrats are a serious player in national politics with a proven track record for helping families deal with the financial mess we have inherited. I am sure that with your help we can continue the progress made by local members in carrying the torch forward for liberal democracy in Alyn & Deeside.

Flintshire Welsh Liberal Democrats have announced Michele Jones and Peter Williams, as their candidates for Delyn and Alyn & Deeside respectively for the Welsh Assembly elections on May 5^th .

Michele Jones, who is a Town Councillor for Flint, said

"I am delighted and honoured to be chosen to contest this seat, and hope to show the residents of Delyn that there is a realistic alternative in the Welsh Liberal Democrats. Delyn is my home - I went to school here, and raised my family here. I believe the Labour-Plaid Assembly Government have failed the residents of Flintshire. Just look at the state of the Health service throughout Wales. Huge amounts of money wasted whilst waiting lists remain unacceptably high and ambulance waiting times are ludicrous."
